The Canal du Nirvenais

Considered by boaters as one of the most beautiful canals in Europe, the Nirvenais canal is the 2nd most frequented canal in France for pleasure boating after the Canal du Midi.
It ends (or begins!) in Auxerre and connects the Loire to the Seine via Yvone.

The Tourist Office provides 5-seater electric boats without a licence from April to September to discover the Yvonne and the canal.

The canal is 174 km long, has 116 locks and offers magnificent landscapes such as the rocks of the Saussois, 30 km from Auxerre.

We can also organise canoe trips on the canal with the Olympic Canoe Kayak Auxerrois (2nd club in France!).
